# VTEX integration

Use the Plexo payment provider in VTEX to accept card payments in your store. The connector uses Plexo's payment API; you configure it in VTEX rather than sending payment requests yourself. This guide covers the VTEX setup. For a direct integration, use the [REST API guides](/rest-api/payments/first-payment.md).

The VTEX connector is available for stores in Uruguay and supports Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Cabal. The payment methods your store can offer depend on your Plexo merchant configuration.

## Before you start

* Have an active VTEX account and a Plexo account.
* Confirm that **Plexo Payment APP** is installed in your VTEX store.
* Obtain the `clientId`, `apiKey`, **Merchant Name**, and **Merchant Id** for the environment you will use from Plexo support. Keep test and production credentials separate.
* Have the payment methods you want to offer configured for your Plexo merchant. See [payment method setup](/rest-api/merchant-configuration/payment-methods-setup.md).

{% hint style="warning" %}
Enter credentials only in the VTEX provider configuration. Do not put them in storefront code or share them in support screenshots. See [API authentication](/rest-api/getting-started/authentication.md) for the corresponding Plexo credential names.
{% endhint %}

## Configure the payment provider

1. In VTEX Admin, open **Store Settings > Payment > Providers** and select **New Provider**.
2. Search for **Plexo** and select it.
3. Fill in the provider fields using the values for the same environment:

   | VTEX field         | Value                                                                           |
   | ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
   | **App Key**        | Plexo `clientId`                                                                |
   | **App Token**      | Plexo `apiKey`                                                                  |
   | **Name** | A name to identify the provider in VTEX Admin |
   | **Merchant Name** | The Merchant Name supplied by Plexo |
   | **Merchant Id** | The Merchant Id supplied by Plexo |
   | **Tax Return Law** | The setting applicable to your store, as confirmed with your Plexo account team |
4. Enable **test mode** when configuring the provider for testing. Disable it when configuring the provider for production, using the corresponding credentials.
5. Select **Save**.

The provider appears in VTEX after it is saved. You must also configure payment conditions before customers can use it.

## Configure payment methods

1. In VTEX Admin, open **Store Settings > Payment > Settings > Payment Conditions**.
2. Add a condition for each card brand you want to offer and that your Plexo merchant supports.
3. Give each condition a name and select your Plexo provider under **Process with provider**.
4. Configure installments if applicable to that payment method, then save the condition.

For detailed VTEX controls, see [Configure Payment Conditions](https://help.vtex.com/es/docs/tutorials/condiciones-de-pago).

## Verify the setup

Run a checkout in the configured environment and confirm that Plexo appears as a payment option. VTEX says it can take up to 10 minutes after setup for the option to appear. If it does not, check that the provider is saved, its test mode matches the credentials, and an enabled payment condition uses that provider. If the configuration still fails, contact [Plexo support](mailto:soporte@plexo.com.uy).

For help with the VTEX Admin controls, see [VTEX's Plexo setup tutorial](https://help.vtex.com/es/docs/tutorials/configurar-pago-con-plexo).
